Terms of Service

Effective date: 5 April 2026

These terms govern your use of GradeMap (“the Service”), operated from Australia. By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What GradeMap is (and is not)

GradeMap is an AI-powered study coaching tool. It uses artificial intelligence to help you structure your study, understand subject material, and prepare for assignments.

GradeMap is not a substitute for your own academic judgement. AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You are responsible for verifying all information, checking sources, and ensuring your work meets your institution’s standards. GradeMap does not guarantee any particular academic outcome, grade, or result.

2. Academic integrity

GradeMap is designed to support your learning, not to do your work for you. You are solely responsible for:

  • Understanding and complying with your institution’s academic integrity policies.
  • Ensuring that any work you submit is your own, with appropriate attribution where required.
  • Using GradeMap as a study aid and learning tool, not as a means to produce work for submission without genuine understanding.

GradeMap’s coaching, explanations, and practice questions are designed to build your knowledge. How you use that knowledge in your academic work is your responsibility. We strongly encourage you to check your institution’s policy on the use of AI tools in your coursework.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of all content you provide to GradeMap (subject outlines, notes, assignment briefs, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a limited licence to process this content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

You represent that you have the right to use any content you provide. Do not paste content that you do not have permission to use, or content that would violate copyright or other intellectual property rights.

We do not use your content to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for details on how your content is processed and stored.

4. AI accuracy disclaimer

GradeMap uses large language models to generate study content, explanations, and coaching responses. While we work to make these as accurate and helpful as possible:

  • AI-generated content may contain factual errors or misinterpretations.
  • Study plans and recommendations are generated based on the content you provide and may not capture all nuances of your subject.
  • GradeMap’s assessment of your understanding is indicative only and should not be relied upon as a definitive measure of your knowledge.
  • Always verify important information against your official subject materials, textbooks, and teaching staff guidance.

We provide the Service on an “as is” basis and disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and merchantability, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

5. BYO API key

GradeMap offers a “Bring Your Own API Key” option where you can use your own AI provider API key.

If you use this option:

  • Your key, your costs. You are responsible for all usage charges incurred through your API key. GradeMap does not control, limit, or monitor your API spending with the provider.
  • Your key, your compliance. You are responsible for complying with the AI provider’s terms of service and acceptable use policies.
  • Key security. Keep your API key confidential. Do not share your GradeMap account if you have an API key connected. We are not liable for unauthorised use of your API key.
  • No warranty on third-party services. We do not guarantee the availability, performance, or accuracy of third-party AI providers. Service interruptions or changes by the AI provider are outside our control.

6. Accounts and access

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Pricing, payments, and refunds

GradeMap offers both free and paid plans. Pricing details are displayed at the point of purchase.

Subscriptions: Paid plans are billed on a per-subject or periodic basis as described at purchase. You can cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds: We offer refunds in the following circumstances:

  • If you request a refund within 7 days of purchase and have not substantially used the Service during that period.
  • If the Service was materially unavailable or non-functional for a sustained period during your billing cycle.
  • If you were charged in error (e.g. duplicate charge).

Refunds are not available for partial billing periods after cancellation, dissatisfaction with AI-generated content quality, or academic outcomes. To request a refund, contact support@grademap.com.au.

Australian Consumer Law: Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including your right to a remedy for a major failure in the supply of services.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to produce work intended for submission as your own in violation of academic integrity policies.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, extract, or replicate the Service’s prompts, system architecture, or proprietary methods.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Share your account access or BYO API key with others.
  • Attempt to bypass usage limits, rate limits, or access controls.
  • Upload content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes third-party rights.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GradeMap’s total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or AUD $100, whichever is greater.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to: academic outcomes, lost opportunities, API charges incurred through BYO API keys, or reliance on AI-generated content.

This limitation does not exclude or limit liability that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice within the Service. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
